In 2019, Alex was traveling the world on a six-month-long backpacking trip. One of her stops was Tel Aviv, Israel where she was staying in Roger's Hostel. One day at the hostel, a tall, blue-eyed man named Charlie approached her and asked her to go to the beach with him. Alex, always a little cautious, promptly told him "No."

But later on, as Alex was attempting to leave the hostel for lunch, Charlie convinced her he knew the "best hummus spot in Tel Aviv". And just like that, they spent the hot day lying on the beach, jumping through the waves, and enjoying some of the most amazing hummus, pita bread, and lemonade she'd ever had. As he showed her around old town Jaffa, she was enamored by his charm and easy-going nature, and because they clicked so easily that first day, they spent the next three days exploring Tel Aviv - together.

Eventually, it was time for Alex to leave. But during those days apart, they were constantly texting, and calling each other at the end of the day. They both knew they had to see each other one last time. "Meet me in Japan," Charlie told her.

She did.

Two weeks later they were eating ramen in Tokyo, hiking the serene trails of Kyoto, and trying the freshest sushi in Osaka. They went to Vietnam after, motorbiking through the mountainous Ha Giang loop and cruising the waters of Halong Bay.

After spending weeks adventuring the world together, they both knew they were falling in love...

Three years later, in June 2023, Charlie proposed to Alex in Seville, Spain. The rest, as they say, is history.
